I made this 3D mockup for the backgrounds of my future webcomic episode. It's WIP, not finished, and will receive a lot of paint-over later, but I love this process and wanted to share Blender screenshots 🥰.

Blender screenshot: a viewport with colored objects while modeling the scene in 3D: a fantasy gothic bridge at night. Blender screenshot: a viewport with nodes to tweak the world (adding mist) and a rendering from the camera: a fantasy gothic bridge at night.
Blender screenshot: a viewport with a realtime Eevee rendering of the full set shaded: a fantasy gothic bridge at night.
dear doggess, you better reuse those assets lol ❤
@efi Thanks, yes, I have a big large shot for the opening, and then the background appear continuously over a dozen of panels, including an aerial view. I started to draw the first panel manually and after hours I had a look at all other panels and thought "nope, I'll not trace all these complex perspective system manually and proportions" 🫣
Superbe 🤩

Concept-art for a dark environment: something work in progress for the future episode of Pepper&Carrot. It was done on a train on my way back home and I really like this new small sketchbook with toned paper.

#unplugged #sketchbook
#MastoArt

Photo of a page of my sketchbook: on a tobacco-colored toned paper (a bit less than a A5 size landscape, 21x15cm) , a fantasy fictive architectural bridge with a mix of gothic and industrial metal structure. On one pilar of the bridge, stands a sort of tower of castle with a big clock on it. The scene is in mountain with mist. It's all in all a sort of mix between a gothic cathedral, Big Ben and some metal bridges from the start of the century. The drawing is done from imagination using black pencil (Faber Castel), on the photo too, and white corrector Tipp-Ex and various other black pens.

So impressive. I love it!

This entry was edited (1 year ago)

looks great and I can’t wait for the future episode 😀
As someone who just created a town in Blender and painted over it, I agree it takes a lot of work 😅 . They look wonderful and magical 🙂 . Great work!
@sylvia_ritter Thanks! Oh yes, the paint-over will be very challenging. 🙂
I'm always amazed by the quality of your work. Even these 3D renders look so gorgeous by themselves.
You are definitely one of the artists that inspire me on my journey.
this is so cool!!
Nice ! will you release a preview of the render, or wait until it's finished then release it ?
@herobrine7gamer Hey, thanks! I'll wait to paint-over, at 100%, the rendering is really full of hack and polygon artifact, and quickly unwrapped brick texture not really fitting the objects.
Darn, the rendering style almost gives a slight animation vibe to it.
I would absolutely love to see a video capture of your 3d paint over process if that's something you ever feel inclined to make in the future.

Blender + Krita, FOSS creative heaven. ❤️
@ScruffyDux Thanks! Ok, I'll try to record it, but for Pepper&Carrot, it's hard to do because I'm doing many hours on the pages and I'm often interrupted at home. I'll try my best. 🙂
Oh, please don't do anything that makes the process harder! If you have the chance to grab screenshots as you go that would be amazing too. But please don't go out of your way!
oh… it was a hard work, I guess… I’m always stunned seeing such complex scenes. 🤩 well, “complex” imho, of course 😅
@fuzzylynx It was only a day of work (and that's a generous time budget for that). The complexity is really a trick: only 4 or 5 building block; all with two axis of symmetry (so I modelized only 1/4 of them) and many copy/paste in distance. The texture is a single procedural node using the 'brick' node already part of Blender; no unwrap, no multiple pass for texture; and even the light bounce refraction is totally faked (see on the third, in the corner all the area of light to simulate it 😆 )
Wow, that is so cool! Love the towers/roofs and the lighting!
And I can barely make a mug and port it to Gmod 😂 Looks great! 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Incroyable ! Très beau travail sur @Blender !!
