Rocks being thrown at us from outer space.

Supposedly, more meteorites are found in Kansas than any other state in the USA. This was the premise behind the title of The Gods Hate Kansas by Joseph Millard. It was made into a film called They Came from Beyond Space that I haven't seen. Plot is very close to The Puppet Masters by Heinlein. I've read both novels. The Gods Hate Kansas was recommended to me by a library friend, a retired petroleum geologist who preferred westerns (not written by Louis L'Amour).
