My avatar doesn't show up cprrectly on Diaspora

Dear friends, I don't know why, but my avatar doesn't show up correctly when my posts appear on Diaspora. I become a lovely cat, as you can see on the photo. The same post shows up correctly on Mastodon, though!
Keep up your great work!
Best regards.
Keep safe!

Friendica Support reshared this.

The "what" is clear, but not the "why". Means: The avatar is created by the catavatar addon. But it should only appear for contacts without avatars - and you do have one. We recently had worked at this part of the code, so there seems to be a bug.
@João Pinheiro Dear João, 👋 Michael,

Not sure if it helps, but I see the same profile pic for João on #Hubzilla (https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu).

Kind regards. 😊
I would say this is your initial avatar before you have changed it. Every new user gets a cat avatar during registration. Then it is overwritten when the user uploads an own avatar image.
So either it is a new bug like @Michael Vogel said or your own avatar has never been distributed to some remote sites.
I know what is the cause. In the last days I saw a lot of 404 errors in the log files. The 404s are related to URLs like .../photo/158654355xxxxxxxxxxxf608237121000-5.jpg?ts=159xxxx328. Guess what? Those are the avatar images.

cc @Michael Vogel
Where did these 404 requests came from? Remote or local?
I'm currently checking the access log....
Looks like these errors are coming from client access. All the error lines have a browser UA string (Firefox, Chrome etc.) and are related to the /network or /community page.
But I don't find any error for @João Pinheiro 's avatar - only http code 200 and 304. Hmm...
I can access the avatar URL https://libranet.de/photo/15126295885ee8f72e233bf034198218-5.jpg?ts=1592325934
But I cannot access the actual file https://libranet.de/photo/15126295885ee8f72e233bf034198218.jpg

Is this intended? I checked it with my own avatar image. I can access all the versions in a private browser session. See? https://libranet.de/photo/21461315195de41929762c2323794558.jpg
Thank you for your hard and great work! If there's some action needed from me, just let me know!

Keep safe!
@Steffen K9 🐰 So far I've only noticed the problem on Diaspora.
Concerning Hubzilla it will most likely depend upon the type of connection. Means if the Hubzilla contact added you via the Diaspora protocol or via ActivityPub. With AP I'm most likely sure that there are no problems, otherwise we would already see them. And the Diaspora-protocol has some obstacles concerning the avatar update, so I guess the problems are based there.

I have to perform some other changes in the code but try to have a look at it today. (But I cannot promise)
@Michael Vogel Please, take your time! There's no hurry! And thank you very much for taking a look at the issue. You're awesome!
@Zron 🇪🇺@Michael Vogel

It had to be me! This is the final proof! I always knew it! I'm King Arthur! :-D
The contact data will be updated after some time. When you don't want to wait you can trigger an update manually on the contact page. Drop-down action menu > Update now.
...or is it 'Refetch contact data'? 🤔 Yes, it is.
I'll try to do that later on and see if it works. 😀
Thank you all for your help! I've refreshed my avatar and it is showing up properly everywhere now!
